The original version of Bud Powell’s “Un Poco Loco” featured an innovative drum part by the great Max Roach. Max came up cowbell/snare drum part (with the snares off) using the rhythms 5 5 6. Manuel Valera arranged the tune for Vital Information using the rhythm of Max’s original drum part and orchestrated it for piano, bass and drums. Having the group play these rhythms creates an odd-time feel to this 4/4 piece. Manuel also added some extra material to the tune and we inhabited the performance
