Apple has officially deployed a critical patch for Telstra customers following a software-related issue that left users of older iPhone models without mobile service.

Apple has moved rapidly to address an iOS bug, which earlier this week was reported to be causing serious network issues in Australia.

Potentially impacted devices included the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X, when updated to Apple's iOS 16.7.13 software, according to Telstra.

The iOS 26.2.1 update that Apple released today further addresses an issue preventing some older mobile phones from being able to make emergency calls. In an updated support document, Apple says that iPhone users with an iPhone 12 or earlier should install the latest software updates to ensure that their mobile devices are able to make emergency 000 calls.
